Saturday night. August 30th, 2025. Inside a red-and-white canvas tent on the festival’s fringes, 37-year-old Vadim Kruglov is trapped. A heavy kitchen knife strikes. A single, fatal jab to the throat. Vadim’s first-ever Burning Man …would be his last. At 9:15 p.m., a woman in a red dress flagged down one of the sheriff department’s roaming patrols. Panicked and out-of-breath, she managed to get out a few words: “There is a man bleeding out in my tent. He might be dead. I won’t touch him.” By morning, one of the guiding principles of Burning Man, leave no trace, proved to be investigators’ worst nightmare.
