They inherited a definition from school, work, advertising, and social media, agreed to it subconsciously, and have been chasing it ever since without ever questioning whether it is actually what they want. Chris opens with the distinction between tier one and tier two. Tier one is not just a low score on a frequency map. It is living inside an invisible box and experiencing the walls as facts about how the world works. People in tier one do not try to escape the box. They try to optimize inside it. More productivity systems, more grinding, more meetings, more sacrificing, all of it pointed at a North Star they were given rather than one they chose. The elevation to tier two is not doing more. It is seeing the box for what it is.
