Deep truths do not depend on beliefs or preferences; they are absolute. For example, you live on a tiny planet spinning through dark empty space; life around you unfolds according to the laws of cause and effect; your physical body was born and will eventually die. How can these truths cause suffering? Suffering begins when the conditioned mind, shaped by its past experiences, develops preferences about how reality should be and then resists life when it fails to match those preferences.
