About this episode

We have a stress fracture epidemic going on! How can it be, that not only professional athletes but also ambitious people get so many stress fractures? I talk about:  • Why we see so many bone stress injuries (BSI) currently  • How you can significantly decrease the risk of a BSI  • How to immediate act if you suspect a BSI  • How a proper return to run/ play protocol should look like do decrease the risk of re-injury This is not only physiological. Bone stress injuries have a huge psychological factor - many people suffering this type of injury have a problematic relationship with training, nutrition & load management.  If you are currently injured and your doctor said your return to run is „start with 5x1min on/off running and work your way up“ (spoiler: DO NOT DO THAT) then this is for you.  If you are a coach, I encourage you to listen to this, send this to your athletes and raise awareness about this topic!  Mentioned Studies:  Relationship between Carb Intake & Bone Remodeling https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9804216/ Bone Density in Athletes of Different Disciplines:  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/228498850_Bone_Mineral_De
