On March 21, 2023, 41-year-old attorney Steve Cozzi was seen on CCTV entering his office at The Blanchard Law Firm. He was never seen leaving. When he missed a hearing and co-workers couldn’t locate him, they called 911. When police arrived, they found evidence of a violent scene in the men’s bathroom. Suspicion quickly fell on an unlikely suspect: Dr. Tomasz Kosowski, a successful plastic surgeon who was embroiled in a tense lawsuit with one of Steve’s clients.  Though Steve Cozzi’s body was never located, investigators found enough evidence to arrest Kosowski for Steve’s murder just days later. After firing a half dozen attorneys, Kozowski ultimately decided to represent himself in his Capital Murder case. He also opted to try the case without a jury.
