The EU budget battle just got nastier

About this episode

Germany has rejected Ireland's proposal for the EU's next seven-year budget, despite €159 billion in cuts. And it's not alone: Governments are divided over where the cuts should fall, while the European Parliament is threatening to block the deal. Zoya Sheftalovich and Nick Vinocur unpack the backlash and what it means for this week's EU leaders' summit. Plus, Zoya interviews Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner about Europe's efforts to curb irregular migration and plans to tighten restrictions on Russian visitors and former soldiers. And why the influencers expected at this week's EU summit won't be showing up after all. Questions? Comments? Let us know on our WhatsApp here or at +32 491 05 06 29.
