Left for Dead: Hohe Tauern National Park

About this episode

In the early hours of January 19th, 2025 Kirsten Gurtner died of hypothermia on Austria’s tallest mountain. Her boyfriend and climbing partner, Thomas Plamberger, maintains his version of events - that he left Kirsten behind to get help - but not everyone believed him. Kirsten’s death and the circumstances surrounding it launched a global discussion focused on the phenomenon of “alpine divorce”, and how trusting your partner can sometimes quite literally mean the difference between life and death.
